Together on the Path to Green Revolution: TESVOLT AG & Revolution Pi

Challenge
TESVOLT faced the challenge of offering a user-centric energy management system (EMS) for its battery storage systems that provides both high interconnectivity and sufficient local computing power.
As a battery storage manufacturer, TESVOLT wanted to ensure that the EMS is compatible with as many third-party devices as possible, such as meters, inverters, and charging stations, to enable the right system combination for each customer. At the same time, a locally operating EMS should guarantee the necessary security and reliability at all times, so that complex energy services can be reliably provided by the installed hardware.
Founded in 2014, TESVOLT has become a leading European full-service provider of innovative energy storage solutions for commercial and industrial applications. TESVOLT enables other companies to use energy freely and decentrally, as well as to trade electricity profitably. The battery storage solutions are manufactured at the main location in Lutherstadt Wittenberg in the CO2-neutral TESVOLT Gigafactory.

Solution
As the basis for its energy management system, the TESVOLT Energy Manager, TESVOLT opted for close cooperation with Wendeware AG and its AMPERIX® EMS as a white labeling product. TESVOLT benefits from the existing collaboration between Wendeware AG and KUNBUS GmbH.
The TESVOLT Energy Manager forms the heart of virtually every TESVOLT battery storage system. Without an EMS and corresponding hardware for networking and controlling all devices, a battery storage system remains idle. The EMS enables the realization of all customer application requirements.

Implementation
Equipped with the operating system and TESVOLT Energy Manager software, the RevPi Connect is either installed in the end customer's meter cabinet or delivered pre-installed in the battery cabinet, depending on the TESVOLT storage system.
The TESVOLT Energy Manager connects all customer devices via network or serial bus and centrally controls the generation and consumption of electricity as well as the charging and discharging of the power storage. Additionally, captured data is visualized via cloud in the myTESWORLD portal for worldwide monitoring.
Technologies Used:
- RevPi Connect
- Network and serial bus communication
- Cloud connectivity
- AMPERIX® EMS software integration

Results & Outlook
Through the integration of Revolution Pi, TESVOLT can ensure that all desired energy services are implemented reliably and without disruption in local energy management. This way, customers save electricity costs and gain access to completely new business cases such as energy marketing through TESVOLT ENERGY.
TESVOLT is already planning additional projects where Revolution Pi will be an integral part of the product solution.
